Dr. Alan Chen – A Community Dentist

Improving the health of the local community is without doubt the primary motivation for our dentist in Beaverton.

Dr. Alan Chen is a Dentist in Beaverton Oregon with a genuine desire to provide the best care possible to his patients.

Doctor Alan Chen grew up in the Cedar Mill area and strives to provide the best comprehensive dental care to the community. After graduating from Stanford University, he discovered dentistry as the perfect fit for his love of science, art, and caring for people.

Dr. Chen received his dental degree from Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry in 2009. He then continued his training at Southern Illinois University where he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency in 2010 and an Implant Fellowship Program in 2011. Dr. Chen continues to pursue advanced education and training through the Spear Institute, Las Vegas Institute, Academy of General Dentistry, and International Team for Implantology Study Club.

Outside of the office, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with his wife, three boys, and their golden retriever. (He loves Costco, so he named her “Kirkie”, as in Kirkland Signature). He also enjoys cooking and collecting and building Legos.

    Educator

    Dr. Chen has served as a clinical professor at the OHSU School of Dentistry and has given lectures to dentists and dental students in implant dentistry. He continues to mentor new dentists and dental Students through the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. He has also served as the Dental Director for the Oregon Special Olympics Healthy Smiles Initiative.

    Professional Recognition

    Dr. Chen has been recognized for his commitment to mentorship of the next generation of dentists, serving the community, and pursuit of excellence and ethics in dentistry. He has been appointed a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, of which membership to these organizations is by invitation only. Dr. Chen felt honored, as he was nominated by dentists he has looked up to since he was a first-year dental student.

    Academic Honors

    Dr. Chen is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Achieving this award requires completing a minimum of one hundred hours of Implant Education and presenting twenty completed implant cases for the ICOI board to review and approve, and an endorsement from an accredited member of the organization.

    He is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a credential which only 6% of general dentists have achieved. This award requires a minimum of 500 hours of continuing education and passing a comprehensive 400-question exam.
